My Soul
By Michael Conomy

You find yourself in that moment
Possibilities never open before seem simple now
That long flowing hair and shades of red
Making everything melt away

Moments of same thought allow you to slip
Loose your grip on the situation
That moment comes you give up all
When it ends there is only one thing left to say

And you say to her

Give me back my soul
So I can relight the fire inside of me
Give back my soul
So I can realise my dreams

The feelings you have created emptiness
Shades of red now replaced with black
You blame yourself for falling
When it was never your intention

You never planned for the hurricane of feelings
Twisting and turning trying to survive the storm
Blame turns to hatred
Releasing the flood gates of pain

There’s only one thing left to say

Give me back my soul
Before my dreams fade away
Give me back my soul
So I can find some shelter and step out of the rain

Don’t give me love
Don’t give me hope
Just give me back my soul
So I can survive the pain
